The Fortnight's Story
Two reports carry this issue: the October jobs report at 8:30 AM ET on Friday, November 6, and October CPI at 8:30 AM ET on Tuesday, November 10. Payrolls and wages come first, and four days later the inflation data either backs up that read or challenges it. Thursday the 5th is the last clean lock-or-float decision before the jobs report, and Monday the 9th is the last one before CPI. A client floating past both is carrying the two biggest releases on this calendar.
The first week builds toward payrolls: ISM Manufacturing on Monday the 2nd, September JOLTS on Tuesday the 3rd, ISM Services on Wednesday the 4th, and jobless claims on Thursday the 5th, with initial claims last at 194,000 for the week ended October 24. After CPI, existing-home sales arrive Thursday the 12th, measured against September's 3.99 million annual pace. PPI closes the window Friday the 13th alongside a claims report that lands a day later than its usual Thursday slot in the Veterans Day week.

— Three Themes To Watch —

What this calendar is really telling you

i.
The Risk Is Front-Loaded Into Week One
Four of this issue's six high-impact releases land in the first five days: ISM Manufacturing on Monday the 2nd, JOLTS on Tuesday the 3rd, ISM Services on Wednesday the 4th, and the jobs report on Friday the 6th. ISM Manufacturing is forecast at 54.6 against a prior 54.5, and ISM Services at 54.8 against a prior 54.9, so a miss on either side would stand out. For a client closing in the next 30 to 45 days, Thursday the 5th is the practical lock-or-float decision point, because floating past it means carrying payrolls.
ii.
Jobs and Inflation Land Four Days Apart
The October jobs report and October CPI sit on either side of a single weekend. The labor data answers whether wage pressure is building, and CPI answers whether prices are confirming it. When the two agree, the odds of a sustained move in rates rise. When they disagree, the first report's move can reverse, which is why a client who floats through Friday should have a plan for Tuesday before Friday's numbers arrive.
iii.
Housing and Producer Prices Get the Last Word
The back half of the second week shifts from labor to housing and pipeline inflation. Existing-home sales arrive at 10:00 AM ET Thursday the 12th, after a 3.99 million annual pace in September, and give agents the number their clients will quote. PPI follows at 8:30 AM ET Friday the 13th and shows whether producer costs line up with Tuesday's CPI. Agents with buyers under contract should treat that Friday as the end of this window's major data, not the post-CPI session.

StandardS&P Global9:45 AM
S&P Global Manufacturing PMI
S&P Global's survey of purchasing managers at U.S. factories, released at 9:45 AM ET. The forecast is 56 against a prior reading of 55.9.
Why It Matters for Rates
It rarely moves rates on its own, and it lands fifteen minutes before the ISM report. Treat it as an early look at factory orders and prices rather than the headline event of the morning.

International Trade in Goods and Services
The monthly report on U.S. exports, imports, and the trade balance, published about five weeks after the reference month. Reference month: September.
Why It Matters for Rates
The trade balance feeds into GDP estimates, so a large swing can change how third-quarter growth is viewed. It is rarely a rate mover on its own.

Weekly Jobless Claims
The first claims print of this fortnight, covering the week ended October 31. Initial claims last ran 194,000 for the week ended October 24; continuing claims were 1.70 million as of October 17.
Why It Matters for Rates
This is the last labor reading before the jobs report the next morning. A sharp move would shape expectations for payrolls, though the bigger test comes Friday.

Why It Matters for Rates
This is the Fed voice on this calendar closest to the payrolls data. Any comment on the labor market or inflation will be read against that morning's numbers, though speeches rarely outweigh the data itself.

Existing-Home Sales
NAR's monthly count of closed sales of previously owned homes, released at 10:00 AM ET. Reference month: October. September's seasonally adjusted annual pace was 3.99 million.
Why It Matters for Rates
This is a housing read rather than a rate mover, but it is the number agents and clients will cite. It shows how buyers responded to rate levels as contracts closed in October.

Weekly Jobless Claims
The second claims print of this fortnight, covering the week ended November 7 and scheduled for Friday rather than the usual Thursday in the Veterans Day week. As of publication, initial claims last ran 194,000 for the week ended October 24; the November 5 print will update that.
Why It Matters for Rates
Claims land in the same 8:30 AM slot as PPI, so they are likely to be overshadowed. A sharp move would still add an early November labor signal.
